Our Resource Parent Principles

Our primary focus is on the comprehensive support of our foster parents, ensuring they have everything necessary to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children in their care. While our dedication to child safety and well-being remains paramount, we recognize that empowering our foster families is key to achieving this goal. Contact us for further details.

What kind of support can I expect from The Good Shepherd after placement?

We provide post-placement support through weekly visits from social workers to discuss any issues, concerns, or just to share updates and anecdotes about the foster child.

What kind of training does The Good Shepherd provide for new foster parents?

We provide a comprehensive 12-module training both online and in-person for resource families before certification is completed.

Does having a medical background benefit me as a foster parent?

While it's a plus to have a medical background, especially for medically fragile foster children, it's not a requirement. We encourage potential foster parents from all backgrounds to apply.

Are there any financial aids for foster parents regarding clearances?

Yes, The Good Shepherd offers reimbursement for clearance-related costs such as fingerprinting in addition to a $500 incentive. Call us for more details on this support.

What age and genders are the children available to foster?

Foster children that are available for placement range from infants up to 17 years of age. We do not pressure our resource families into any ages/genders. You get to choose!

How can I communicate any concerns or questions I might have as a foster parent?

The Good Shepherd maintains an open-door policy, encouraging resource parents to discuss any issues whenever they arise. The Good Shepherd also invites you to call without hesitation for any questions or assistance you may need.
